Features

Rapid exchange catheter that combines a single lumen in its proximal portion (Teflon-coated stainless steel hypotube) with a double lumen in its distal portion.

The external lumen of the distal portion has a tapered design to achieve a dotter effect during dilation, and it has 4 distal holes for drug or contrast agent perfusion.

The proximal lumen allows a guidewire to be used to feed the catheter into and through the stenosis. Two markers on the proximal portion of the catheter help to position the catheter in line with the tip of the guide catheter in the absence of fluoroscopy.

The marker closest to the catheter’s luer lock is used to guide it into position from the femoral insertion site, while the furthest marker is used for the brachial/radial insertion site. In the distal portion, close to the tip, there are five radiopaque markers to locate the lesion that is being treated and measure its length* under fluoroscopic guidance (0, 10, 20, 30, and 40 mm).

*lesions smaller than 40 mm.

Amicath II® features a stylet and sheath to protect the distal portion.
